CHARACTER
» NAME: Adrian Ţepeş | Alucard
» CANON: Castlevania
» CANON POINT: After his last encounter with Dracula.
» AGE: 19
» SETTING: WHAT IS A MAN!
» SHORT DESCRIPTION: Reserved, brooding, pragmatic, mournful, curious, diplomatic.
» INFLUENTIAL EVENTS:
❧ DEATH OF THE MOTHER - Lisa, Alucard's mother, was such an important influence on Alucard's life that her last words are what kept him from going down the same path of demanding vengeance in her name like his father. After years of learning how to be an effective doctor and helping truly heal people, Lisa ended up being taken away by the Church to be burned at the stake for supposedly practicing withcraft. Initially, Alucard had wanted to lash out, tempted to strike down the humans executing his mother -- but she called out to him, begging him to be merciful, to be better than them. Despite his inner turmoil, Alucard did not show himself, deciding instead to seek proper justice. Because it's what she would have wanted.
❧ MADNESS OF THE FATHER - Dracula, Alucard's father, was of course the other major influence. More stern, somewhat impatient with mortals, Dracula was not a terrible father; he was loving, if old fashioned in many ways. However, upon learning the death of his wife, Lisa, Dracula went mad with grief, telling the citizens of Wallachia that for their transgression he will give them one year to make peace with themselves before he would come for all of them with an army from Hell. After giving the warning to the Wallachians, Alucard told his father that he should refrain from outright slaughtering them, to only take action against those directly at fault. Furious, Dracula told him there were no more innocents. Alucard stood his ground, announcing that he would not let his father kill them. Immediately, Dracula lashed out, striking Alucard, with a deep wound with just his claws.
❧ DUALITY OF MAN - Because Alucard was born from the blood of both vampire and human, he experiences mixed feelings as a result from both worlds; the world of man, and the world of immortals. Under his father, he learned much of sciences, what it meant to have vampiric heritage, and his existence with other creatures of the night. From his mother, he was taught kindness and patience, what it meant to have humanity. Ultimately, Alucard does not quite belong in either world, never quite human enough and never quite monster enough. This is not limited to one specific event, but the duration of his entire life, complicated only by the two events listed above.
❧ PATRICIDE - Although it has not happened yet, it weighs hard on Alucard to know after his last encounter with his father that despite whatever feelings he has, he ultimately must stop his father's vengeful rampage for the the sake of innocents, to protect not just Wallachia but possible the rest of humanity. Whatever sort of man Dracula was is now gone, left now but a man consumed with grief and fury from the execution of his wife. It is an anger enough that he lashed out at his own son, and Alucard is now left with the knowledge he must get help to kill his own father.
» FIT: As far as horrific settings go, it's safe to say that Alucard will be overly prepared considering Castlevania's horror setting, and the fact that his father is Dracula himself. Monsters and demons are nothing new to Alucard, having lived among many of them during his life and learning his own powers and limitations as well. While he has lived a privileged life of an impressive mix of magic and technology, something like a sci-fi setting in space will be something new to him that Alucard will need to adjust to. He won't be overly thrilled to be in space considering his last interaction with his father, but he will be vastly interested to learn more about the technology around him. He'll also be compelled to work with people around him in order to protect them, so teamwork is not out of the question.
» POWERS:
Bear in mind that I am focusing primarily on what's been displayed in the show while utilizing the Castlevania games to supplement what will be likely filling in some of the blanks. For example, I will not include much in the way of magic spells here because Alucard has not yet showed whether or not this is an ability of his in the Netflix series even though it is a skill he has in the games. I'll provide explanations where it's needed. If there is any part that is deemed inappropriate or should be removed, please just let me know!
DHAMPIR ABILITIES
- Enhanced Strength. Alucard is stronger than the common human, enough that he can easily wield a ridiculously long sword one-handed against a skilled hunter's full strength. He can't arm wrestle Clark Kent anytime soon, but he'd have a shot at beating Jesse McCree's mechanical arm.
- Enhanced Senses. Alucard has a keen sense of sight and hearing, but more importantly he can smell very easily, down to the point that he can sniff out blood in people and generally their health. The biggest takeaway from this is that he smell the blood real goodlike.
- Speed. Alucard moves ridiculously fast. He'll phase faster than a typical human, but he can't outrun, say, Barry Allen.
- Durability. A knee to the groin does nothing to Alucard. Also, he's just pretty durable all around and can take quite a beating. Some factors may end up being a weakness, but I'll cover that below.
- Shapeshifting. As shown in the opening credits of Castlevania, as well as matching his abilities in Symphony of the Night, Alucard is able to shapeshift into a wolf and a bat respectively.
- Immortality. Alucard does not age, but he can be killed under the right circumstances.
- Self-Healing and Recovery. Most injuries can be recovered fairly quickly in Alucard's case in a matter of seconds, unless he's dealt a violent blow from someone significantly more powerful than him, such as his own father. That would then require a longer period of time and plenty of rest.
- Vampirism. It should go without saying, but as the son of a vampire, Alucard does drink blood. I presume he requires the blood of humans or at least a being that is sentient but I'll leave it open to players to determine via permissions if their blood as a non-human would be enough for him to live on.
- Weapon Summoning. If he has a weapon nearby, Alucard can summon it to his person.
- Float. Alucard is capable of floating a few feet off the ground, but doesn't appear to be able to take actual flight beyond that.
