PERSONALITY:
As a being of two very different worlds, Alucard is a man set with complicated feelings and worldviews, always half and never quite belonging to either due to both how he was raised, what he has lost, and because of what he is. By first appearances, he seems to be a man who is cool to most situations, impassive, and even appearing to look like he's bored or disconnected with his surroundings and people he's interacting with. It is even rare for him to become particularly personal with most people, holding them at a fair distance. To him, humans are fragile creatures, and although he bears half of that in his genetics, he still finds them so delicate and does not see himself suitable to socialize too deeply outside of civil niceties and necessary teamwork. Though while he remarks that vampires are also his people, it's fairly evident how they have no regret in attempting to fight and kill him either.
Most of this can be contributed to the difficult history of his mother and father, a human woman who was a doctor and the latter being a powerful vampire with little love for most of humanity except distinctly his human wife and chosen few. It torments Alucard's soul to know how humans turned on his hardworking mother, a woman who saw the best in man, who insisted that at its core humans were capable of so much. He tries his best to live up to what she had seen in humans as he adored his beloved mother, even if he does harbor some resentment toward the religious factor that burned her alive. While Alucard is sympathetic toward his father's rage, it still bears to emphasize that he is traumatized and grieving over having committed patricide.
Yet, all of that grief is shut away by a face that seems indifferent to those around him, and he doesn't share a bit of it with anyone else. Some might be able to note his demeanor, his comrade and friend Sypha remarking how no matter how she jokes with him he's like an "icy well", sucking everything down into nothing but sadness. As a result, Alucard has a difficult time seeing his future beyond saving humanity from his father's madness. His original intent was to sleep forever after stopping Dracula, only having resisted upon Trevor Belmont's determination to do otherwise. The way Alucard tends to view himself is that he needs to behave a certain way in order to remain functional and useful despite his personal circumstances. He doesn't quite have the idealism from his mother, nor the blind rage from his father, but he continues on in their memory regardless of whatever his personal desires are. Perhaps not the best coping mechanism, but for a man that's surrounded by nothing but what he's lost to ignorance, it's about all that he has. Expressing himself or asking for personal assistance in such things is difficult and impossible for him to do, even to the point of letting his only two friends go have their own journey together as to not trouble them with his mourning.
Though aristocratic, even dramatic and definitely a supernatural creature himself, Alucard also has a respect and comprehension of sciences that definitely aren't popular or understood during his time period. Not unlike his mother, Alucard has a natural curiosity towards these things, knowing that there is so much of the world left to learn and discover, especially with mechanisms, medicine, and engineering. In the case of the game's setting, he'll be fascinated by the technology and culture of the game itself as well as the people he encounters. Due to the fact that he was raised by a scientist and a doctor respectively, Alucard will adapt quickly to unusual and unexpected technologies as a result, so he has that going for him.
In addition, he does have a sense of humor that creeps out here and there despite his overall despondent personality. Though likely most of it is a front to keep himself appearing as "untouchable" as possible and that matters just roll off his shoulders (they, in fact, do not), he's perfectly capable of being just as crass and a bastard as Trevor is, or having more clever quips exchanged with Sypha. All in all, never forget for as much of a Dark Prince that Alucard is, he's still a brat that's going to make sarcastic comments, especially if he wants to get under someone's skin.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
DHAMPIR ABILITIES
- Enhanced Strength. Alucard is stronger than the common human, enough that he can easily wield a ridiculously long sword one-handed against a skilled hunter's full strength. He can't arm wrestle Clark Kent anytime soon, but he'd have a shot at beating Jesse McCree's mechanical arm.
- Enhanced Senses. Alucard has a keen sense of sight and hearing, but more importantly he can smell very easily, down to the point that he can sniff out blood in people and generally their health. The biggest takeaway from this is that he smell the blood real goodlike.
- Speed. Alucard moves ridiculously fast. He'll phase faster than a typical human, but he can't outrun, say, Barry Allen.
- Durability. A knee to the groin does nothing to Alucard. Also, he's just pretty durable all around and can take quite a beating.
- Shapeshifting. Alucard is able to shapeshift into a wolf and a bat respectively.
- Immortality. Alucard does not age, but he can be killed under the right circumstances.
- Self-Healing and Recovery. Most injuries can be recovered fairly quickly in Alucard's case in a matter of seconds, unless he's dealt a violent blow from someone significantly more powerful than him, such as his own father. That would then require a longer period of time and plenty of rest.
- Vampirism. It should go without saying, but as the son of a vampire, Alucard does drink blood, primarily from humans.
- Sword. If his blade is nearby, Alucard can summon it to his person, and is also capable of enchanting it. The sword appears to be impossible to break.
- Float. Alucard is capable of floating a few feet off the ground, but the flight is a bit limited.
