[Alucard knows that these friendships are not eternal. Nothing really is. Everything fades, everything perishes and becomes dust.

But it is nice to have, for a time.]

[ ( Perhaps with more time here, she would have been able to convince him otherwise. )

He can't see it, but she nods. ] Of course. I'm currently at my quarters, but if you'd like to meet somewhere else...?

[Warmly:] No, that would be fine. I'll be sure to arrive as soon as I can.

[as promised, he does arrive, and fairly quickly at that. knock knock, it's yo vampire buddy]

[ The door opens quickly enough — the belongings in her room have been packed into two bags ( she never did have long to get settled ), and all that's left are the bare essentials.

Her uniform's been hung up neatly by the door, too — on her is a blue ALASTAIR cloak from times past. ] Alucard. [ But she smiles warmly upon sight of him ( today is not a day for mourning ). ] Come in. I don't have much, but—

[reposing]

Shh.

[Smoothly, Alucard kneels down before his friend, taking her hand. To the back of it, a tender kiss is placed.]

I wished to thank you in person for your kindness and friendship. I will not keep you, but you must know that I value you, as do many others.

And for good reason.

[heritors]

[ The reaction is immediate. Eyes wide, mouth open as she watches him move to his knees. ] What are you — [ She doesn't take the hand away, and she can't interrupt him, but —

She can give him a proper response, in a moment. Lucina crouches in front of him, eyebrows furrowed. ] Come stand. There's no need for you to — [ Kneel? Thank her for something that he shouldn't thank her for? Assume that he's taking up her time, somehow? ] we can speak, as friends, once we're inside.

[reposing]

[There's a pause, as if he's having a difficulty getting a proper read on her. But he does not argue, instead standing at her insistence.]

[heritors]

[ Look how are you supposed to react when someone kneels in front on sight????

But she welcomes him in, the composure returning now that he's standing. Shuts the door behind them, only to have a silence settle over the room.

Eventually — ] I wanted to thank you as well — for your companionship, and your assistance last mission. [ Then, even quieter than before: ] We may have not known each other for very long, but I'm glad to have met you nonetheless.

I am glad as well. Friends are too few where I'm from; I'm glad to have made some, yourself included.

Whatever team has you next will be very fortunate. We should envy them.

[heritors]

[ That gets her to smile, her entire expression softening. After all the times she said the exact same words to the others ( with each one that was just as genuine as the one before )— ]

... I may be overstepping, but I'd like to ... ask for a favor. As a friend.

Of course. What can I do for you?

[heritors]

In this team, there's— [ Gods, where does she even begin with this? "Her aunt from the past" opens a can of worms she'd like to avoid dealing with if at all possible. ]

One of our guildmates — Lissa — she's ... family. I was hoping to protect her for as long as I am able, but as that is no longer possible...

I wished to ask you to just ... keep an eye on her. If that's alright.

Lissa is my friend as well. I would be more than happy to help ensure her safety, Lucina.

You have my word. For as long as we are both part of the guild, I will watch her.
