❧ what is a vampire.

It is much to my frustration that I've often repeated myself to many in regard to my heritage. In order to simplify matters and not cut my patience short, I've arranged a common set of questions and my answers to each. Should you have another question for me, ask appropriately at my inbox.

Q: Are you really a vampire?
A: I am half, by my father. I am also half human. This constitutes a more specific term for me: a dhampir.

Q: What is a vampire?
A: The most basic summary that I have is that a vampire often looks like a human with minor differences, primarily with fangs. We drink the blood from others, most often from mortals. We have other abilities, but it varies upon vampire to vampire.

Q: That's barbaric.
A: However you may feel about it, I do not simply take blood from others. I request it, and appreciate volunteers. No one is obligated to feed me.

Q: How much blood do you need?
A: If I am perfectly healthy, I need approximately one pint of blood every two weeks preferably. I can wait three, if I must.

Q: What happens if you don't get blood?
A: Then I starve. Much like what happens when a human doesn't have food. It will not kill me, but I will become weak.

Q: Why can't you just survive off of animal blood?
A: It staves the hunger, but it gives me no nutrition.

Q: Can you only drink from humans?
A: I have been able to drink from a variety of other beings thus far, so long as they are sentient.

Q: Do you sparkle?
A: No.

Q: Vampires aren't real.
A: How fascinating it is to be denounced yet again. It does not matter what you believe, I am here and I exist. If you cannot accept that, then leave me be.
