Vampires are usually turned by another vampire. Sometimes unwilling, unfortunately. That is the main way vampires procreate. If a vampire manages to produce offspring by birth, it can be difficult. If the mother is human, she may not survive the term, for example. As far as I know, I'm the only dhampir. Half-vampire.
