But as for the good news, I suppose I ought to first explain how it is I tried to find your horse in the first place. Which is to say, I, um. Tried to use magic. To simply call it up.

It is possible that the horse is still back in Wallachia. Which does not really make it all the safer, in retrospection.

Well, I came across a gentleman of somewhat questionable repute who happens to be in the business of selling magical items, and one of them is a horn that he said could summon an animal. So I thought if I got one and sounded it, perhaps it could find your horse.

The good news is I wasn't swindled! It did find something. Just not your horse.

It's even less mine than it is yours, evidently, so of the two of us, it's your horse. Which actually brings me to the whole point.

I think it, er, took the closest thing it could find to something that was "my horse". Which is to say, my unicorn. The unicorn that I made fall in love with me, before coming here.

Well...yes. A witch made me bring it to her, and I couldn't think of any other way to catch it, other than to try to enchant it into liking me long enough to take it to her. I let it go again after she was dead!
